Identical Twin Couples Who Had 'Quaternary Twins' Clear Up Misconceptions About Their Lives

Picture
Twin sisters Brittany and Briana Deane, and their identical twin husbands Josh and Jeremy Salyers, share a one-of-a-kind family setup. When both twin couples each had a baby, it resulted in what’s known as quaternary twins — children who are technically cousins but are genetically close enough to be considered siblings.

Though the kids have different parents, their genetic makeup is so similar that they’re often referred to as “genetic siblings,” and their families treat them that way. The four adults all live together in the same home in Virginia and are happily raising their sons — Jett and Jax — as brothers.

The couples first met at the Twins Day Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio, and naturally gravitated toward each other. After dating, Josh and Jeremy proposed to Brittany and Briana with matching rings, and the sisters said yes at the same time. In 2018, they held a joint wedding and later moved into one house together.

In 2022, Brittany and Josh welcomed their son Jett in January, followed by Briana and Jeremy's son Jax in April. Because the boys were born close together and have such similar genetics, the families consider them quaternary twins. They refer to each other as brothers and even see all four adults as their parents.

“Sometimes they both want one mom, or then they’ll want the other,” Briana said, noting how closely bonded the boys are.

Their unique lifestyle has sparked curiosity — and some confusion. The couples have faced assumptions that they might be in a polygamous relationship, but they’ve clarified that they are in separate, monogamous marriages. They simply share a home, raise their kids together, and pool their resources.

“Each twin has their own partner,” Brittany emphasized. The sisters even revealed they had experienced miscarriages in the past, which brought them closer and inspired them to coordinate their pregnancies.

The couples say their closeness isn’t just about their marriages but also about staying in sync as twins. “It would feel odd to do something without telling the other,” Briana said.

Their children are growing up just as close — Jett and Jax even share a bedroom — and seem to be following in their parents’ footsteps when it comes to their special bond.
